Conforming

Challenging thought: What is the pattern of the world that you are following?

In Romans 12, we are told to no longer conform to the pattern of the world. What is a pattern of the world? Is it just anything that is "sin" or could it be anything that is established by this world? Could it include the pattern of work without any rest, could it include instant gratification, could it even include the patterns of church expectation? I personally believe a pattern of the world is anything that does not follow God's will and purpose for your life.

I think that many of us just follow the pattern of the world and even the church, when we should be renewing our mind to discover God's good, pleasing, and perfect will (Rom. 12:2). I challenge you to continually offer your preconcieved and prefabricated ideas to God. I think He has so much more for us, but we can't see it for the patterns in which we have allowed ourselves to fall.

Hi Kristy, I clicked on your blog from the CWO Blogroll - mainly because my name was right before yours on the list (Kristy's Blog). Onto your question, sometimes I find myself falling into a "pattern", usually it's made up of all "good" things, but not always the BEST things. I feel God whisper that I need to rethink the pattern I'm falling into - and spend time with Him.

Yes, there are lots of good things, and the struggle for me is to find the Best and stay there.
